Another work trip and I like to take a picture to remind myslef where I parked.
I had a beer at the airport bar while waiting for my flight.
And then when I got on the plane…
It was time for another beer.
It was a long filght, so I ate, too.
I flew into Frankfurt and had to take a train to Köln.
It was my first time riding in the big airplane.
At the train station, this helped let you know what car to get into based on your ticket.
The scenery on the train ride was great!!!
My room for the week in Köln.
Check out the mirror selfie.
I had a great view, and you can just see the Rhine River.
I had some time, so I went for a walk along the river.
I then headed into the old part of town.
I love the plazas of Europe.
The cathedral in Köln is very famous, but I didn’t have time to get over to it yet.
I needed to get some dinner…
So I found a good spot to sit…
And ordered some food.
Inside there was plenty of fun artwork.
Walking around, I found what looks like an original wall to the city.
Kölsch in Köln is the way to go.
I tried as many of them as I could find.
I liked the wavyness of the bricks.
Getting close to the cathedral, but I saved it for another day.
Instead, I headed across the river with my co-worker, Josh.
What a great skyline!!
We walked along the river on the other side…
And we found a fun shop where I bought my mother a purse for Mother’s Day.
We then found a nearby pub and had some more kölsch.
Figuring out how to use the trams.
We headed into the newer part of the city…
And, of course, I had more kölsch.
On the way home I found a bar that had some really good local beer that wasn’t kölsch.
Good stuff, for sure.
The next day I finally made it to the cathedral.
We went inside and it was HUGE!!
An example of the stained glass.
Some moddern stained glass that has beed added.
We left the cathedral and headed to a work function, where there was really cool graffiti outside.
Inside was plenty of food…
Friends…
And more kölsch.
The next day was the main event, and we were a big sponsor.
I work in email, and it was an email conference.
We sponsored lunch…
Among other things.
You can make out on the right that we were a gold sponsor of the event.
We had fun at the photo booth, too.
Afterwards, it was time for festivities.
The after party was right on the river.
Jörg and I have worked together for over a decade, and I was happy to end the trip hanging out with him.
