For the Fourth of July weekend, Molly and I headed to Ohio to see some friends of hers.
We we went to Athens, OH.
The drive took about 6 hours.
We decided we were going to camp in her friends’ yard for fun.
It didn’t take long to get the tent set up.
Then it was on to drinking.
There were lots of Ohio beers I had never tried.
And I have to say I loved them all.
I brought my record player so we spun some vinyl, and they had records, too!!!
Being goofy in the tent that night.
This was taken right before a coyote (we think) paid us a visit. It came by twice, and the second time it actually moved the tent as it sniffed around. We ended up sleeping in the car.
For Fourth of July weekend Saturday morning vinyl I played the British invasion.
Afterwards I relaxed and played some music.
A ginger beer that was easy to drink and low ABV.
Everyone took turns doing chores, like cooking.
I thought this would be a good album to play in honor of the Fourth.
Lunch is ready!!
I brought a puzzle for everyone to do, and it was a big hit.
We took the afternoon to head to a park.
Specifically, Strouds Run.
Molly and I rented a canoe…
But she tried out someone else’s rented paddle board.
Not bad for her first time.
Group picture!! I was treading water and everyone thought for sure I was going to drop my phone in the water.
It was great to just lay around on the water and do nothing.
Blanche was trying to do a headstand, but couldn’t pull it off.
Love and friendship.
After leaving the park we went to downtown Athens for a bite to eat.
Jackie O’s was our brewery destination.
They had A LOT of beer.
Beerporn.
We sat outside and enjoyed our beer.
From there we went to the West End Ciderhouse.
I’m not much of a cider fan…
So I got a beer instead.
Back at the house we worked as a team to finish the puzzle.
Well, some of us were, others were enjoying chatting.
We finished the puzzle in record time.
This game was hanging on their wall, so we pulled it down to play.
We decided to sleep in the car agian, so we got a few things out of the tent…
And then made our bed in the back of the car.
Being goofy.
Fantastic breakfast the next morning. Chilequiles!
Looks like everyone is checking their phones.
We spent the afternoon playing games because it was raining…
And generally just relaxed.
My girl.
As late afternoon approched we headed out to a brewery.
Little Fish was our destination.
The place was small…
And the guy in the hat in the left was a pompous ass…
But their beer was really good.
Very small production.
Outside we played some more games…
And had a lot of fun.
Lots of fun stuff in barrels back inside.
Looks like they stole the Dogfish Head font for the prices on the shirts.
Matt knocked over the Jenga tower.
We headed back into town for dinner.
Casa Nueva was where we were headed.
A map of many of the breweries in Ohio.
They didn’t accept tips.
Cheers!!! Also, the only picture of everyone from the whole weekend.
Big portions at dinner.
Back at the house it was bluegrass jam time.
The ladies relaxed inside.
Waking up the next morning and it was raining outside.
We were leaving early, so we had coffee and then got on the road.
And 6 hours of driving we eneded the weekend with a 20 year old port and time in the tub.
