Family vacation time, and my brother swung by to pick me up.
I had to work on the way down, but it wasn’t that bad.
We stopped at a Cracker Barrel for a late lunch.
I’m always amazed at the amount of junk they sell.
Now there is something you don’t see every day.
How you know you’re going South on I95.
After 11 hours on the road we were almost to Hilton Head.
About an hour later we arrived.
And made short work of getting the most essential of supplies.
Wanting to unwind a little, we stopped in…
For a quick beer.
We then headed over to the motorcoach resort…
And met up with my parents.
Cheers!!!
The next morning breakfast was needed…
And Stacks seemed to have what we needed.
Then it was over to the Disney resort to check in.
The kids love the resort.
My room for the week.
And I figured I’d settle into the room with some Saturday morning vinyl.
The room looks like many of the other Disney resorts.
With a great kitchen…
Sizeable bathroom…
And ample bedroom.
I had a great view of the Harbor River.
I put on my bathing suit and headed…
To the pool for some swim time.
Everyone loves a waterslide.
Even Taylor!!!
Some poolside beer.
Mathew’s place was like mine, but he had an extra room for the kids.
It was time for the real shopping trip for the week.
And I made sure to grab some more beer while I was at it.
My haul from the store.
Time to celebrate shopping with a beer.
Hidden Mickey.
I love a good hammock.
Taylor was trying to hide from the picture.
I’ll have to come back here.
We went out for dinner the first night.
Of course, I needed a beer with dinner.
The food was good…
And the company was better.
Amber and I found some live music to dance to.
And afterwards I enjoyed another beer.
We then grabbed a rocking chair and some ice cream.
We took our bikes with us on the trip, and this is us on a late night ride under a bridge.
I run even when I’m on vacation.
Lots of wild birds in the area.
This is a nice cooler I bought for carrying all my stuff around with me.
It was easy to get anywhere you wanted on your bike.
Everything was flat which made for easy biking.
I had my beach bike with the basket, and decided to grab some food.
Well, beer, too.
Ravens were playing that day, so I watched the game while enjoying some local beer.
The resort had a mascot dog that all the kids loved to pet.
After the bike ride, it was back to the pool for some beer…
And Peanuts. (Notice my “1st Visit” button)
There was sooooo much beer available it was easy to keep drinking new beers.
And what better place to find new beer than a brewery.
The tropical lager was a mainstay and one of their best.
But wanting to try something new I went with the hefe wheat.
Fish tacos anyone?
We all jumped in the pool when we got back.
A little blurry, but you get the point.
The BEST beer from the whole trip. Also, this beer is in my top 5 all-time favorite beers. If you like sours you should really try to get this beer and drink it.
Hidden Mickey in the room.
Nothing like a vacation to wear down the kids.
The next day the men went for a bike ride…
To find the women, who were shopping.
I grabbed Amber and we got some ice cream.
Then I got a frozen adult beverage from the daiquiri bar.
What would you get?
It’s not often that you find your name in a display like this one.
Getting some braids put into my hair.
What do you think?
A sculpture in the water.
I really liked it.
Amber decided to get some of her hair braided, too.
Relegated to the backseat.
Time for some manly bonding in a game of…
Putt-putt.
Afterwards we rode the bikes home.
Fresh beer anyone?
Hidden Mickey.
And another hidden Mickey.
And another.
And another.
We were on a hunt to find them all.
And they gave you clues as to where to look.
But you still had to find them yourself.
And some were very hard to find.
Taking a break and having some dinner.
YUM!!!
We had several puzzles we worked on throughout the trip.
Another hidden Mickey.
And yet another.
Great sunset.
Showing how far away all the other resorts are from the Hilton Head resort.
We spent a lot of time in the pool.
One puzzle done!!
The beach resort was actually about a mile away.
So I biked over and headed down to the beach.
But in the end enjoyed the pool much more.
Taylor played video games…
And I enjoyed some more beer.
Heading home. Erin is on a tricycle (with a big basket) and Amber is on a tandem.
There are two hidden Mickeys here.
Another bonding day, this one playing golf.
We played a round of best ball.
Taylor got to drive.
It was a lot of fun.
Notice the matching shirts.
It was a lot of fun in the sun…
And maybe a little too much for Taylor.
We celebrated a good day with some beer at the bar.
Dinner at Scott’s Fish House was great!!
Amber found a little crab.
Dancing poolside.
It wouldn’t be Disney without fireworks.
High fives on the waterslide.
I am such a sucker for these things.
Amber had a milkshake, I had another daiquiri.
What a great selection of beer!!!
And this is the one I selected.
Oh my, were these fish bites good!!!
Go Ravens!!!
Another great beer.
We have the same eyes.
More beer anyone?
We were all having a fun filled trip.
Another milkshake wearing the shirt I bought her.
We all got new sunglasses.
The back of the shirt from her new favorite ice cream store.
We had some sushi one night…
And it was delicious!!
Time to eat!!!
We all know the tricks of the Japanese steak house.
Another hidden Mickey.
This one is really cool. That took either a lot of planning, or a good bit of luck.
I had run low on beer, so I made another trip to the store for more.
Amber and I enjoying a hammock together.
How to get a grill going.
They actually weren’t that bad.
Being our second to last night, we had to cook all the leftover food.
No room for my food.
But that’s OK, I’ll have a beer.
Afterwards we went for a walk to this outdoor concert.
I got myself a “Scott’s Fish House” hat.
Another puzzle done!!
Don’t worry, it was dead.
Playing on the beach on the last day.
I dig my toes into the sand.
Erin, getting set up for a fun picture.
Playing virtual golf this time.
I went to dinner that night with just my parents.
The restaurant was called Vine.
The food was really good.
How is that for some tuna?
Dessert.
This one too.
The next day it was time to head home. This was taken after I changed a tire on the side of the road at 5am in the dark.
Well, that’s the last picture. It was a fun filled trip and I can’t wait to go back sometime.
