Kelli and I were heading to the beach for Memorial Day weekend (and the week after), but delayed our start to avoid traffic.
When we arrived at the beach, the ceiling had been fixed!!!
And for the rug…
I bought a new one.
Well, this seems to be the way most weekends at the beach start.
Saturday morning vinyl.
I was hanging out with Tom…
And we dropped off Lori with the kids at the boardwalk…
Before getting into some drinking.
Kelli and i headed to Secrets for a show that night, and it seems we weren’t the only ones with that idea.
We were there to see 9 Mile Roots.
I missed the sign when it said “Secrets is full”.
We took the secret way into Seacrets.
And I got in position to start taking pictures.
Always good to see these guys.
I dig their sound.
We left that show and took a cab to…
Buxy’s to see Hot Suace Sandwich.
These guys rock!!!
We met up with my cousin while we were there.
Testing to see if Riley likes riding in a basket on a bike.
And he seems to not mind too much.
With that testing done, I bought this bike.
Riley loves going for bike rides.
Interesting registration code.
Kel was up to her usual antics.
I played with Lori’s selfie stick.
No selfie stick needed for me.
We were down on the boardwalk to see Higher Education.
And Casey stopped by to say hello.
Too cool.
We then headed back to their place for a couple beers…
Before heading back to our place so Kelli could take a bath.
Nap time.
Sushi time.
Riley found a friend.
Kids love music.
Robert picked us up and we headed out for the night.
We checked out his boat…
And then Kel and I headed to Fenwick Island to see Brian Russo.
John was playing bass for him.
This kid was maybe 13 years old and tearing it up.
Taken with my phone camera.
The next day it was back to Riptide Pool Bar.
Again, we met up with Casey.
Kelli said hello to Bigler.
We then went up to my cousin’s where he came to pick us up with his boat.
It was a great day to be on the water.
We all know how well Kel does with children.
And she seems to have found a friend.
We love going to Fish Tales for food and drinks…
And the place is very kid friendly.
Lots of flags flying.
Looks like someone was a little tired.
We cleaned the boat, and then Kel and I left.
It was time to go back to Seacrets for another show.
They sounded great, as always.
With Memorial Day weekend done, it was time for part two of the week to start, the Ravens Roost Convention.
As a note, there were no pictures from Tuesday as Kel and I layed low and did nothing but relax and recover.
But with the rest over, it was time to get back to drinking.
We left the party to head to…
A music fest at Macky’s.
We were there to see Mike Pinto.
It was another great show…
And I got to hang out with Mike after the show.
What happens when you’re not on the same page about crossing the street.
Back at the convention everyone was in full party mode.
The next day it was back to Coconuts for the convention.
I took a front row seat.
We joined Mitch and Cindy for their annual boardwalk bar crawl.
We started at the inlet at Harrison’s Harbor Watch.
I had some lunch while I was there. The mussels are great!!!
Knowing we were walking the entire boardwalk, we touched the sign.
Next was Guido’s Burritos for another drink.
Then we found a place we had never been.
It’s an upstairs bar with a great view of the beach.
Conner’s Sail Loft Deck Bar & Cafe.
Our next stop on our walk was Backshore Brewing.
Kelli should know you’re not supposed to text and drive.
Cheers.
Saying hello to Adam the brewer.
After 2.5 hours, we reached the other end of the boardwalk.
Of course, we didn’t stop there.
We swung by Coins and ran into T Lutz.
We then headed over to Mother’s.
For some more eats.
Back at the convention, the group was growing in numbers.
There was plenty to drink…
And eat.
Lots of beer, too.
We met up with Steve and friends for dinner and drinks.
And then he came back and hung out for a while.
As he was leaving we saw a fox out front.
The next day we laid around on the beach.
Kelli played Bingo later in the day.
Not sure when she did this, but it can stay.
We headed over to Pizza Tugos for some happy hour fun.
And Joy was there, too.
Kelli and I walking back to the convention.
The night life at the convention was a lot of fun.
Most of the Roost that made it to the convention.
It’s funny seeing the statue get more stuff as the weekend goes by.
Saturday morning vinyl.
It was then time for the Roost parade.
Laurier and Joy stopped by right before the start of the parade to say hello.
We gave out small footballs and had a theme around deflategate.
The cheerleaders were in front of us at the judging stand.
We ended up winning first place in the novelty category.
It was then bar crawl time.
Our first stop was Buxy’s.
We had a round of purple shots for everyone.
Someone gave Buxy replica Steelers rings.
We then headed across the street to 28th Street Pit & Pub.
The place was well packed.
From there we headed North…
To Mother’s.
A round of shots for everyone.
We left there and went to Higgins.
The have a new upstairs bar area.
We swung into Anthony’s…
And had a drink at the bar.
Roost #4!!!
Kel and I grabbed a cab and headed to West OC…
To see Fiction 20 Down.
We weren’t the only ones who made the trip.
Hanging out with the band.
It’s hard to shoot into the sun.
The weather was great.
We left the bar…
And took a cab back to the convention.
Of course we hit the drawbridge.
The last picture of Kel’s ring before the the middle part broke and we lost the diamond.
Here is our trophy from winning the parade.
A weekend of drinking.
It was right here when Kelli was dancing that we think the ring broke.
Looks like the statue picked up a few more accoutrements.
Well, losing the ring was a crappy way to end the week at the beach, but overall we had a great time!!!
