Coming into an early dawn in Baltimore City…
Parking near M&T Bank Stadium…
And getting ready for The Color Run.
Kristi and Rob joined us for the 5K run.
It was really cold, and we walked from the parking lot…
Over to the start of the race.
And we’re off!!!
There were different color zones…
And this was the blue zone.
They spray colored corn starch out of ketchup bottles on to you as you run by.
The run wound between M&T Bank Stadium and Orioles Park at Camden Yards.
Kelli’s favorite, the Pink zone.
Look at the wind blowing the color across the parking lot.
The purple zone was, of course, on the backside of the Ravens stadium.
The fun of the race was to get as much color as you could…
And I did all right with the purple.
It was at about the 2 mile mark near the band that we finally passed all the walkers.
I took a direct hit to the eye.
Kristi and Rob were about 5-10 minutes behind us.
Coming down the final stretch was the orange zone…
….quickly followed by the yellow zone.
Looking good after passing through all the color zones.
We finished the un-timed run…
And then waited for Rob and Kristi to cross.
In Rob’s hand you can see a packet of color they give you at the finish.
At a given moment, everyone gathers together, opens their packet, and throws it into the air.
The air was so thick with color for a few seconds it was hard to see.
One of the best parts of the race, for sure.
What we looked like after all the color had been applied.
I was parked close enough to the event that the wind had blown (mostly orange) color onto my Explorer.
We decided to have a post race celebration a few blocks away…
And It was worth the walk.
Arriving home, I relaxed with some Saturday morning vinyl…
And playtime with Riley.
We have yet to run one of there.
It was fun, but make sure you get to the front if you actually want to run. There are more walkers than runners, and with the race not being timed, everyone starts when the want. If you are 50 feet back from the start, everyone in front of you could be walking.
Looks like a lot of fun, especially the beers & burgers as the end of the run 🙂
What good is running out you can’t reward yourself?
