Memorial day weekend started with Kelli and me bowling.
Her partner was out sick, so I subbed and we won.
The next day we headed to the beach, but there was a lot of traffic…
Everything was jammed up coming into the toll booths…
But once we got across the Bay Bridge, things got a little better.
We stopped at Kelli’s co-worker’s house for a drink…
And then headed to Pizza Tugos…
And had another drink…
Before heading back to the condo and hanging out with our neighbor, Eddie.
Of course, we neded some drinks there, too!!
We got back around 2am…
And Kelli promptly fell asleep.
The next morning I took Riley for a quick walk…
And then Laurier stopped by for a little while.
How my neighbor Tom wears his flip flops. DORK!!
My brother and the family came down to stay with us for the night.
They didn’t waste any time getting their feet wet in the ocean.
Go Team Habicht!!
As a fun gift, my brother bought each of them their own boogie board.
This squirrel was driving Riley nuts.
Riley couldn’t stop watching the very tame squirrel.
Robert was in town, too, and stopped in to say hello.
We had some afternoon snacks…
And enjoyed the good weather.
Even at the beach there are chores to do…
And while Kelli slept, I did laundry.
This is the view from the top floor of my building.
While waiting for the laundry, I took Riley for a walk.
In case anyone wants to learn to surf, you can get free lessons at Endless Summer.
An outside bar where Riley is welcome.
While I was doing that, my brother’s family was with Robert riding jet skis.
I left Coconuts…
And headed to a bar that was not dog friendly.
So after dropping off Riley, I came back and had a drink.
A story about the building that includes photos with my condo in the background.
That upper corner of the balcony is from where I took the picture of the beach.
Later the kids relaxed and watched Star Wars for the first time.
While they watched the movie, Erin and I went for a walk on the beach.
And then came back and I watched the rest of the movie with everyone.
Riley, always happy to lay in bed with someone.
Around 7pm I talked everyone into walking all the way to the end of the boardwalk.
Kelli wasn’t feeling well so she stayed home.
7:30pm and we started our journey on the boardwalk.
Everyone getting their posed pictures.
We got Erin to watch the kids…
While Mathew and I grabbed a quick beer.
Like a kid in a candy store.
2 hours later and we were nearing the inlet.
The arcades were slowing us down.
But after 2 hours and 45 mintues, we made it to the end of the boardwalk.
To rest our legs, we took the tram home.
Check out how many steps I got in that day using my fitbit!!!
After everyone went to bed, Mathew and I stayed up and had a beer.
For Sunday morning everyone went out to the beach.
Amber, always happy to be with Aunt Kel.
Amber and Ava played in the surf together.
I just relaxed under my umbrella.
Family picture time!!
Back in the condo I caught the reflection of the dunes in my beer.
Kelli was enjoying a fun beach drink.
While I was killing off the single beers left in the fridge.
When Mathew left town to head home, we headed to Robert’s house…
…for a cookout on the bay.
Beach life is so relaxing.
Kelli hung out on the docks and enjoyed the breeze.
Family picture time!!!
We left their house and came back home…
To check out the new bar at Anthony’s.
A great new bar at the end of our block.
Monday had come, and we headed back to Coconuts…
To see Nate play some music.
While we were there, we confirmed our show for later that night.
Coconuts was very packed.
The Happy Birthday note we sent my Mother while at Coconuts.
If you get a chance, try the mahi fingers there, they are REALLY good.
We left that bar and went to Barn 34.
A little less crowded than the night before.
We tried their food for the first time (which was pretty good).
Running into a fellow roost member who was in town early for the roost convention.
Before we went to the show that night we stopped by Robert’s again.
Daddy’s girl.
Kelli was in no mood for photos.
Doesn’t Ellie look so happy to be in my lap?
We relaxed for a while, and then headed to…
JC’s Northside Pub to see Howi Spangler of Ballyhoo!
He did a solo acoustic set that was really great!!!
Kelli adding to her list of photos with rock stars.
We had up front seats for the show.
Well that is all. We packed up Tuesday morning and headed home for work for 3 days (then coming back!)
Love the pictures!
