Another guys weekend started with a stop to pick up supplies.
It was draft weekend and we couldn’t wait to get to the beach.
I arrived at my condo to find that my neighbors had painted my door for me.
They had also left a keg of beer for me to drink!!!
So with the draft less than 24 hours away…
It was time to drink.
Eddie, the man who painted my door.
For dinner, we went down to OC Wasabi.
And then it was back to drinking.
With only Peter E., Joe, and me in the condo the first night, Joe got to sleep on the sofa.
We need to do a better job of communicating who is bringing what.
A bet from the previous year and Joe and I collected our winnings.
Hooray for winning!!!
The next morning Chris showed up.
We needed to get my CO2 filled for the keg…
So we headed to Berlin.
We first had lunch…
Then noticed the Hale Peach on the way back to the car…
Before heading just outside of town to a homebrew store.
I bought some of the hop candy, and it tastes just like hops.
While we were in Berlin we decided to stop by Burley Oak Brewing Company.
The beers they had on tap…
And some of the shirts they had for sale.
I ran into some of my beach friends while we were drinking in the beer garden.
Made in Maryland.
Back at the condo, the keg was iced down and ready for drinking.
We needed some supplies…
So we headed to the store. As a note, this may have been the last picture taken of the Anthony’s sign before it was changed.
I can’t wait for their bar to open!!!
SCORE!!! This is no longer called Ozzy thanks to Ozzy Osbourne suing The Brewers Art over the name.
Well, look who is doing commentating on the draft.
As with previous years, I was keeping my notes.
For this year, we decided to stay at the condo and drink from the keg while watching the draft.
Of course, some decided to crash out early.
The Ravens first pick, C.J. Mosley.
Ny notes after the first round.
The next day it was time to get some food.
They are no longer Anthony’s Beer and Wine.
But I have my old school shot glass.
We spent the afternoon relaxing and drinking.
I talked Joe into going out on the beach with me to see how the beach replenishment was going.
You can just make out to the left of the “scopes” guy’s head the difference between what has been replenished and what hasn’t.
Down the beach was the equipment being used for the process.
For scale (sorry, no banana).
30 pipes in total.
This main pipe was hooked to a barge offshore…
And a slurry mix of sand and water is pumped from the barge to the beach.
That is one big pipe.
I’m guessing this is used to push the sand around and level out the beach.
Joe and I stopped by Coconuts and got photobombed by these two women.
A sign at the bar.
The note says, “Peter & Chris, I hope you had a good nap. Scott & Joe”
From there we stopped by the newly opened bar at the end of my block, Barn 34.
It use to be a Christmas store…
But is now a two level restaurant and bar.
Games on all the tables…
And check out this old school fun.
The original sign on the outside of the building.
Back at the condo and I thought the reflection of the open door in Chris’ eye was odd.
They were up and ready to drink…
Peter sporting the latest in men’s fashion wear.
It seems I was in need of a nap, and after 2 hours of sleep was pulled out of bed to go out and drink.
We grabbed a taxi…
Passed the new Anthony’s Liquors sign…
And headed to the Green Turtle in West OC.
Galaxy Collective was supposed to be playing, but instead we only found Matt from the band.
So we jumped in a taxi and headed back to the boardwalk.
First stop was The Bearded Clam…
Where Joe sang the “drink, drink, drink, drink” song.
And then we headed out to the boardwalk.
This is where the night starts to get fuzzy for me.
I’m guessing it was this shot of tequila that put me over the edge.
Trying to take a selfie…
In a cut-out.
No longer Shorebilly Brewing, they got sued over the name and are now Backshore Brewing.
Somehow I’m still standing…
And it seems we ordered food.
This is the last picture of Chris for the weekend, as he left first thing Saturday morning to head home (reportedly with a mean hangover).
7am in the morning, and it seems Joe decided to sleep on the floor.
Look at the pollen that had collected on Peter’s car over the weekend.
It was around 6pm before we were even thinking about leaving the place…
And with a big storm brewing off the coast…
We decided to head out before it got too bad.
I probably shouldn’t have had a beer…
But what else to do while watching the end of the draft…
And eating sushi.
We retired early that night and woke up feeling much better Sunday morning.
And with that, we headed out of town after another great weekend!!!!
