Kelli and I packed it up and headed out for a fun weekend in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
We made a stop on the way out….
At Funkstown Tavern.
We played Keno, but didn’t win.
I was going to use just this shot of the neon light…..
But then the bartender came around and joined in the fun.
After we left Funkstown, we made it the rest of the way to Berkeley Springs.
We were staying at a B&B called Highlawn Inn.
We had come back once again for the International Water Tasting.
For now, however, it was time to check into room #1 (although we may try some of those other rooms next time).
While it may not look big from the hallway….
The room was very spacious….
Although I wasn’t too big of a fan of the wallpaper.
The bathroom, of course.
From the top of the hill, we could see the inn where we had previously stayed.
We headed into town for a drink…
And posed for a couple shots.
Later it was back to the room to get ready before going out.
Kelli was rocking out to some music….
And didn’t want her picture taken.
We took our “before going out” picture…..
And then headed to Panarama at the Peak.
They knew we were coming.
This place has a great view, but it was too dark and snowy outside to get any good pictures.
The food was bland….
Plain….
And mostly uninspired.
There were lots of cats in the B&B….
And Kelli thought that was cool.
While there may not have been smoking in the room, the kitchen air was thick with the smell.
No picture of the event, but I caught this cat outside marking the area in front of my truck.
After our breakfast (forgot to take a picture of that) we walked down to town….
On this very steep hill.
The inn where we previously stayed was also where the Water Festival was being held this year.
We had more pressing matters to attend….
So we made our way to the spa.
We had a nice relaxin soak in the waters of Berkeley Springs….
And after our bath, it was massage time.
In the waiting area Kelli was called in before me….
But it wasn’t long before it was my turn.
Afterwards, we tried to go to Lot 12, but we were too early….
So we went to the inn for a few drinks….
Before heading back to Lot 12.
The food there was really good!!!!!
We had dinner reservations someplace else….
But I called and cancelled so we could stay at Lot 12.
The chef’s parents and a local.
If you ever get a chance to eat at Lot 12, do so, the food is worth the drive.
Chef Damian came out to hang with us…
And Kelli wanted a picture with him…..
And his hair.
Yum!!!!
Later that night, Kelli feel asleep…..
While I watched some of the Vancover Olympics.
The next day was the start of the water tasting at the inn….
But it started too late, and we had to be in DC to see….
State Radio (we would be seeing Ani 3 days later).
We staked out our spot….
And listened to the cool grooves.
State Radio has a good following…..
Thanks to front man Chad Urmstrom originally with the band Dispatch.
After the encore, we quickly went down and got closer.
We ended up about 15 feet away from the stage.
All in all, it was a great weekend.
And what better way to end it then with a parting shot of Kelli and 9:30 club bouncer, Josh Burdette.
