To our home away from home….
The pimp pad!!!
Kelli gets warm standing over the heater.
We headed out to get some…..
Food and drink….
Before heading off to bed.
Here is a quick video of the leaves and snow falling.
The next morning we awoke to a fresh snow from the night before.
We hopped in the car and drove over to see….
My parents, who were staying at the Shawnee Ski Resort.
The were hanging out with Mike and Aunt Crissy in Mike’s camper when we arrived.
The resort was beautiful.
We were in town that weekend to see the Timber & Balloon Festival.
Here is a map of the resort.
The festival didn’t start until later, so I chauffeured the women to their various shopping destinations.
An assortment of what can be found at the Odd Lot.
You know you want to do this every time you see one.
So I did.
For my nephew Taylor.
Next it was off to get some supplies.
Kelli gets a prime spot for the start of the pig races.
Later, we arrived back and headed over to the festival.
While they had some of the standard fare you would find at a festival….
We were there for the Timber part.
Later, there would be a pole climbing competition.
A real man can do anything with a chainsaw.
My father got a good spot, too….
But my mother preferred to sit and rest.
Of course, when they asked for a volunteer, she came right back.
She got to wave the flag and yell, “Ding, ding, ding”!!!
Yeah, it was pretty much what you would expect.
They also had hot dog races…..
With the dachshunds dressed up as….well….hot dogs.
Kelli says no more pictures.
Back at the lodge, it was almost time for the competition to start.
The was a log cutting exercise……
Log sawing……
And like a good blue collar job, lots of standing around.
Actually, this was the elevated cutting exercise.
No log cutting would be complete without power tools.
Kelli watches and learns how to….
Climb a pole.
Log rolling was good fun….
With splashing allowed….
It made for a quick event.
I really liked the apples, and Aunt Crissy bought a print of the dogs.
Back at the camper, we all relaxed and waited for…..
The fireworks!!!!
There was a lake that made for great reflections.
We all enjoyed watching them.
This shower dripped ALL weekend long. We kept the door shut to keep the noise from bothering us.
The next afternoon at the camper, we wanted to take a bath, but seeing hot water was hard to come by….
We thought we’d help out…..
And add a little extra hot water.
It still took a good bit of time…..
But we managed to get the tub filled.
While were relaxing, my parents took a few pictures of the balloon part of the festival.
Due to the weather, the balloons didn’t fly, but they did fill them with air.
Mike was happy to lend a hand in getting things done.
After a relaxing day of laying around, we stopped by to say hello to everyone….
Before heading out to dinner.
This place is one of our favorite places in the Poconos.
The food is always great….
And we ordered…..
Plenty!!!
But we made sure to save room for dessert.
Well, it was a quick weekend, but a ton a fun. Hope you enjoyed!!!!
