Summer started with a day at my brother’s house for Father’s Day.
Of course, my father wasn’t the only father on hand that day.
My brother is a great father, too.
Kelli was in Florida visiting her Grandmother during that time.
Riley was happy to be outside on a great day.
I almost forgot to get a picture of the 3 of us.
A treat I picked up for my father.
Looks like Kelli forgot to set the camera to “auto” before asking to have her picture taken.
Back home, it was all smiles with the nieces.
She was watching the kids while Kristi was at work.
The Edwards sisters look out for each other like that.
I was hanging out at my brother’s late, and the children tried to stay up too.
Another day at the 9:30 club, this time to see a Michael Jackson tribute band.
It was on the day after Michael Jackson’s death, but we had gotten these tickets a month ago. Weird.
The band had the moves down and sounded just like him.
The next day, we just hung out at the house and listened to Michael Jackson music.
Gotta love the beer.

Riley is always a good subject.
He has a lot of patience for the pictures I take.
Time for some yummies.
After finishing the bottle, Mark and I decided to break it.
But don’t worry, we were safe about doing it.
The bottles tend to break in the recycle bin anyway…
So we just helped the process.
Kelli, meanwhile, just kept working on her cards.
That dog has it too good.

Such good sisters.
My parents came to pick up Riley and watch him for us.
And while they were out, they gave him “doggy” ice cream.
I’ve never heard of the stuff, but he seems to like.
With Riley being looked after, Kelli and I went to dinner at Iron Bridge wine Company.
She was trying to get the sunset when we left, but it didn’t quite work out that way.

If it were a beer truck, this would make more sense.
Go figure, the three of us out drinking and eating.
Great beers, if you’re ever in the area.
Hanging with the in-laws, and Mike gives me his warmest welcome.
A day of games, including wiffle ball.

When you’re that age, all food is finger food.
For the adults, it was sangria.
We took turns on the tractor….
While Mike and Emmit watched.
If it has an engine and wheels, you can bet any man is going to want to take it for a test drive.
It was a good night, including Mike’s reversal of fortune thanks to the drinking.
The Fourth of July always means crabs with the in-laws.

And generally just relaxed.
It was a nice day to let loose.
From there, we headed to….
Timmy’s house for some fun with friends.
What happens to your hands when you try and open a pickle jar that is too tight.
And being the Fourth of July…..
There were some small fireworks, as well.
He may give me grief for this, but seriously, I couldn’t pass it up.
Outside everyone was watching the fireworks.
Sisters, gotta love’em.
At the beach, and these two do nothing…..
But lay around…..
All….
day long.
Riley is always happy to go to the beach….
And so are we.

Then another squirrel showed up…..
And they made their own fun.

We ran into old friend Lee Gilroy…..
On our way to OC Wasabi.
It was time to button things up for rental season and say goodbye until the end of Summer.
We stopped by my Grandmother’s on the way home, and sadly this was the last time I saw her before she passed away.
Concert time at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
We hung out in the VIP area….
Then walked around. Notice I’m on my third 24 ounce beer.
By the end of the night after watching Shinedown, Staind, Chevelle, and Halestorm…
We had finished off 6 of those beers, each.

Ashley had a ballet recital at her ballet camp one day.
They were all so cute doing their routines!
Summer is always full of parties, and this one was at Ralph’s house.
We were goofing off in the bathroom.
Later, we went to Nottingham’s to meet some High School friends.
Nothing like good times with old friends.
Looks like a night doing the Centennial Fun Run.
9:30 club again, this time for Paolo Nutini.
One of Mark’s favorite bands, apoptygma berzerk.
Another dinner at Iron Bridge Wine.
A cool cloud formation on the way home.
Some wine my parents gave us with stackable bottles.
Out for a night drinking….
And when Mark saw that the aforementioned band was coming to town, he bought tix right away from his iPhone.
A Facebook meetup of some High School friends.
We all met at Nick’s Fish House and enjoyed crabs and beer.
From there we met up with Peter and Megan.
Before heading to my brother’s 30th birthday party.
Cousin Robert made the trip.
Good times, with good family!!!
It was definitely a fun night.
Scott thought it would be funny to stand in the background of the picture of the brothers Habicht.
There were fireworks….
Lots of fireworks.
The weather was great.
Erin had a cake for Mathew….
And shortly after, the cops came and shut the party down.
So we all just made sure to part in a more quite fashion.
Who wouldn’t smile when between two beautiful women.
The summer had many crab eating moments….
As well as moments at the pool.

Erin and I hung out together one evening.
We did a little drinking in downtown Sykesville, MD.
Sometimes I get an extra one to bring home to Kelli.
They’re good people, and we like to hang out with them.

A memorial service for my grandparents.
We sat around and enjoyed memories together.
I read the Robert Service poem “The Cremation of Sam McGee”.
Afterwards, we went for a ride on Robert’s boat.
It was a great day outside…..
And it was a great way to spend time with family.
Let me just say, that boat is FAST!!!

The Howard County Fair was in full swing, so I went with the family to see the spectacle.
There were lots of hands-on stuff for the kids, like milking a cow…..
Or holding the baby ducks.
You could pet the pigs, too, if you wanted.
Out on the midway, it was time for…..

While I went with the more challenging apple.
Sophia thought candy on an apple was a great idea.
She took the picture so she would remember to get it again next time.

When we got home from our trip, Riley too was happy to be home.
Of course, no time for rest, and it was right back to hanging out with family.

For a family pizza party.
Ashley tells everyone that I am her number one Uncle.
And then we made funny faces.
The CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) to which we belong.
It is great getting farm fresh veggies every week.
Ah, the Melting Pot.
It’s like the swingers dinner of the 1970’s.
But for us it’s just family dinner night.
My new TV has an ethernet port for getting the internet on the TV.
Must have been movie time for these two movie junkies.
Three tanks of gas at a local gas station…..
Netted two tickets to a rainy Orioles game.

And she had crab cakes….

Riley and I went for a walk to take pictures, and this is my hands free setup.
The beach is always a zoo in the Summer…..
But we like to enjoy it anytime we can.
When we got to the boardwalk, we had to stop…..
As dogs aren’t allowed during that time of year.
So with the sun setting, we headed for home.
When we got back to the condo, Riley met Tom and Lori’s daughter, Ava.
Tom and I walked across the street to a parking garage….
And I got a few night shots of Ocean City.
Kelli and I then headed over to OC Wasabi.
Scoring the hidden spot at Dogfish Head.
Where we had gone to have….
A few drinks.
We then stopped by for a beach favorite.
And on the way home, hit another bar.
This one is right on Assawoman Bay. And yes, that is the real name of the bay, for those of you not from the area.
Back at the condo, Tom and I played guitar.

And this one let him walk on the bar.
Amber’s birthday is the day before our wedding anniversary, so she is doomed to always get a belated gift from Kelli and I.
But she seems to be ok with that.

And we locked the kids up for safe keeping.
No, I’m just kidding, we all went to Red Robin.

Actually we were going to the Maryland Wine Festival….
As volunteers….
To pour wine for Penn Oaks.
They worked together for the day.

Afterwards, we stopped and had a few drinks on the way home.
That night, we went to a party at Sue…
and Q’s house.
