Summer started with a trip to the snowball stand.
While Kelli and her mom went to Florida to visit her grandmother.
When they got back, we celebrated with shrimp and scallops and wine.
Summer always brings us out to wine festivals.
This was the Great Grapes wine fest.
We volunteer at Penn Oaks every year.
The crowd was small but fun.
Ah, the memories.
A great band, The Reagan Years, played 80s music.
We met some friends there and got a little tipsy.
Our favorite vintners, Maura and Jan.
Kelli signs her name for her new car.
Stylin’!
A stipulation was that it had to fit in the garage with my motorcycle in front of it.
Its kinda obvious whose is whose.
This summer we joined a food co-op to support Maryland farms.
Everything is pesticide free, not to mention delicious.
So much better than the grocery store.
A night at Frisco Burrito.
The food was pretty good, and they had tons of beer on tap.
Saturday mornings we go yard sailing.
Afterwards Kelli would go with her sis and the kids to the pool.
Sophia is too cool for the pool.
Ashley models this season’s swimwear.
Didn’t we all hate having lotion applied?
I like this picture.
It was early summer so the baby pool was still pretty cold.
Kristi would pack lunches for the day.
A long pool day wears them out.
I went looking for my camera, but it turns out I left it inside. (Mathew locked me out so I would notice)
Check out what I got at the yard sale.
$2, and it rocks!!!!
We were going to Dinkle’s bachelor party, so Scott Gray brought over some crabs for Kelli.
The party was just starting at the Brew Pub.
We didn’t want just anyone walking in.
The eats.
The attendees.
Papa Bender made an appearance.
It was a pretty fun time.
These guys were thrilled.
A toast to Rob!
Is he smoking inside?
Joe gets jiggly with it.
Kelli went over to her mom’s for an annual Edwards tradition, making the lasagna.
The bachelor party was still going strong.
Taking the kids for a ride.
Kelli and her mom took her grandma to visit some friends on the Jersey shore.
Every day at 5 they have a happy hour.
2 of those ladies are over 90, so drinking must be good for you.
When you get older you bruise easy though.
Well, Louise took a fall pretty recently.
So true.
This is a restaurant they went to one night.
Her grandmother is listening to the conversation behind her.
Louise, the lady in the sling, was pissed because there were children crying and making noise.
Her grandmother ate this and had to gulp down 2 glasses of water.
This was in front of Fran’s house, the lady front left. She is in her 90s and lives alone.
She’s also really short. You can’t see her in the passengers seat.
Dinner the next night was here.
Waiting for a table in the lobby.
The ladies ponder what to order.
Kelli had the tuna.
Her mom’s shrimp dish.
These 2 kids were goofing with them all during dinner.
I think they had a fun trip.
If you lost the beach access pin you had to put 2 bucks in replace of it.
Before the days of coffee makers, they had percolators.
Kelli’s mom took the beach view room, so she got this one instead.
The view from the room she would have had.
Her mom and grandma slept here. The house had like, 8 beds.
This is worth a million bucks.
Fran was smart, bought the lot next door too. Her kids had this one built.
The corner lot, a straight shot to the beach.
Introducing the newest kid, Megan’s daughter Jillian.
Its always chaos in my mother-in-laws kitchen.
Everyone loves a new baby.
The new mama is all smiles.
Handing the baby over to daddy, and there are no smiles.
Mike cooks a pretty mean veggie burger.
Happy fourth of July!
Doesn’t Sophia look like Boo from Monsters Inc?
Its impossible to get her to look at the camera.
They all made a trifle for 4th of July dessert.
Taylor shows how its done.
That grass is going to make it tough.
Hanging out with my brother and Zach.
Mike makes a sangria that rivals Tio Pepes.
My mother-in-law’s favorite son-in-law.
This one will go in the scrapbook.
Riley is hoping someone will drop some food.
Who doesn’t love bubbles?
They are really trying to catch them.
The trifle was delicious.
So festive.
Ashley will do whatever it takes to enjoy her snowball.
I took her over to my brothers and Taylor shows off his best hiding spot.
What’s 4th of July without fireworks?
Zach gave Ashley his Army helmet, but she was still scared of the firework blasts.
These were pretty good.
We had a bunch of different ones to shoot off.
I get cozy with my sis-in-laws.
“You know, black and white would just capture the moment so nicely”
Zach contemplates married life.
Ashley and Taylor love this game too.
She really got into it.
They sure do love each other.
It takes about 10 minutes for them to say good bye.
She has no idea what she’s doing.
She fakes it well though.
Maybe someday she’ll be a rock star.
Kelli got us great seats to the Ani concert in July.
Wolftrap has lots of natural parkland to hang out at and chill.
Which is great, because she got the dates wrong.
But the next night was great!!!
Monday, not Sunday. We drove out again the next night.
We were in the Orchestra Pit, 2nd row.
The concert was awesome.
On to Dinkle and Jenny Chou’s wedding, Click here for pictures.
We took Kelli’s sis to the John Mayer concert at Merriweather. It poured.
We stood out on the lawn and got pleasantly stewed.
Erin Shadrick is about due for number 2.
Every other Tuesday in the summer we attended the Centennial fun runs.
Of course, we got mixed up on this day too, so we just went for a walk to the park.
Amber loved jumping off this curb with my father.
It took several shots to set this one up.
We found one that worked though.
A group shot taken by Taylor.
We had to cut through the woods to get off the trail.
It ended up being a really nice night.
So the kids dipped their feet in Brian’s pool.
So angelic. Looking.
A family shot of the Shadricks.
After dinner one night my parents came over to watch Dancing with the Stars.
Kelli and I watched it all season and then missed the finale.
For Artscape we took Kristi and the kids to Baltimore.
These cars were pretty clever. The lobsters and fish moved to the music.
I can’t imagine the looks this guy gets when he drives.
Check out this truck.
It was a million degrees so we cooled off with a favorite treat.
Victoria Vox was playing at Artscape, which was why we came.
They loved the show.
Victoria was selling underwear, so Kelli bought some from her boyfriend, Bo.
Take the picture already.
Kristi poses in purple.
Who knew selling underwear would be so lucrative?
There’s nothing like ice cream in the heat of the summer.
It was nice to take a load off.
After the show, Victoria came over to say hello.
Sophia loved Victoria so much, she insisted that she hold her.
Learning the peace sign. Click here for all the pictures of Foxy Voxy.
It was a pretty good time.
Clip-on earrings I bought her.
Sometimes, and I’m not sure, but I think she gets sick of the camera.
I think it’s about time for a haircut.
Ashley wanted some pictures of her room….
SO she took the camera, and off she went.
It took Sophia a while to warm up to me.
I knew it wouldn’t be too long…
before I became her favorite as well.
Kelli doesn’t think these are super sexy, but I like them.
A Tuesday night fun run, in action.
They get a great crowd for this.
You can walk or run.
Or just stroll.
Different family members and friends would show up week to week.
So cute. The baby’s not bad either.
This is my first time holding her.
Kelli teaches Amber how to do a pedicure.
My brother moved to a new house and has this huge apple tree in his backyard.
Riley is on the prowl for rabbits.
Amber loves to be held.
Put up your dukes lets get down to it.
Teaching Amber photography, and she knows to look at the camera and press the button.
Group shot.
This beats having to answer the door for guests.
Bruce and Michele’s wine party was awesome. He built his own wine cellar.
Michele was an amazing host and cook.
Jim and Joe hang out.
It was their anniversary.
It was a party not to be missed. Even Miriam showed up.
Is it wrong for guys to give each other back rubs?
They have an awesome movie room.
Everyone got pretty tipsy.
So Kelli asked if we could open some champagne.
Some of the crowd.
Some more of the crowd.
Some of the bottles that we killed.
Some romantic couple.
As I said, it was a great time.
All night long different people would show up.
Kelli checks out the extensive dvd collection before leaving.
The Tersies’ group.
Of course I had to spill something on myself.
I left my glasses some weeks prior and this is Bruce’s bin for lost items.
One night we went with the out-laws to dinner at Aida’s for restaurant week.
Instead of yanking my chain.
Dinner was delicious.
They look so summery.
I’m such a lucky guy….now where is Kristi?
Kelli spent a lot of time at North St. John pool this summer.
The kids love the water.
Ashley took a ton of swimming lessons.
They really paid off.
During her lesson, she asked if she could go on the diving board.
Do you remember your first jump?
She lived to tell the tale.
After her lesson they grilled some food in the pavilion. And that ends Summer 2008, part 1.
