Kelli and I took the advice of the Washington Post and headed out for their road trip destination, Berkeley Springs, WV.
From where we live, we have to cross the Appalachian Trail to get there.
We also went through Funkstown, and being the funky couple that we are……
We had to stop by the Funkstown Tavern for a drink.
Won’t you take me to, FunksTown Tavern!!!
Arriving in Berkeley Springs….
And we made our way over to our place of stay for the weekend.
I hated the wallpaper/curtain/bedsheet combo.
The pattern was enough to dirve a man mad.
It was quite difficult to escape.
Be it the bedroom or the sitting room….
It was Kelli who made the room look good.
That night, there was a wine reception in the Lobby of the inn.
After the wine reception, it was up to the room to get ready and go out for dinner.
Hello Sexy!!!!!!
The next morning at breakfast, and Kelli enjoys a cup of coffee before we head out for the day.
The mean, cold streets of Berkeley Springs, WV.
Find Kelli.
A little history for you…
The springs were a famous health mecca for Native Americans from the Great Lakes to the Carolinas.
The first settlers in 1730 learned the value of the springs from the Native Americans and spread the word back East.
At the age of 16, George Washington first visited the springs as part of a survey team.
For many years after Washington returned and in 1776, along with three signers of the Declaration of Independence, four signers of the Constitution, seven members of the Continental Congress, and five Revolutionary generals, bought the land.
And here, to this day, is George Washington’s bathtub.
Kelli and I continued along our way, and passed by the place we had dinner the night before.
The local movie theater, currently showing Ocean’s Twelve.
These plaques were all over town and gave the history of each parcel of land at your current location.
Later that day, and Kelli and I enjoy a soak in the famous water before our massages.
The park, from where the water flows so freely.
One of the draws that weekend was the international Winter Festival of the Waters.
There was plenty of water for the public to sample….
And the public could also vote on best packaging.
The Game Show Network was there to do a show about water….not really sure why, but watch the channel and you might see us.
Kelli casts her vote.
Look at all the bottles.
I love the judge from the National Geographic Channel, checking the water for clarity.
Kelli decided to do her own testing….
Mmmm, tastes like water to her.
That evening before going out, and Kelli and I relax in the room….
And do a quick review of the pictures so far.
Check out the halo above my head.
Local restaurant Lot 12, named for the lot number it sits on.
It was good looking from the outside….
With a good looking menu….
And great looking customers….
And good looking husbands.
Kelli gets ready for bed….
And we took one more picture before going to bed.
Last day of the weekend, and I enjoy a cup of joe before heading out.
Our room was the four windows above the middle section.
On the way home we stopped at another place on the Washington Post’s road trip, the Tea Room in Middletown, MD.
The building had some historical significance….
Something to do with the Civil War.
We just came for the tea.
All the food was home made….
Even the soup.
We enjoyed all they had to offer.
So with nothing but dessert to go, it’s time for me to go for now. Hope you enjoyed.
