On our way to New York for the US Tennis Open, we stopped by Brian’s house to say hello.
3 hours later, we arrived at Kelli’s Aunt and Uncle’s house.
Saturday afternoon Uncle Ted prepared his “famous” homemade pizza.
Kelli pitched in to help.
Brian thinks about grabbing the whole thing for himself.
Later in the day, we went to the train station to spend the day in New York City.
No sooner did we board…..
And everyone was asked to get off because of a mechanical problem.
After an hour and a half, we finally met Perri in front of Madison Square Gardens.
Perri took Kelli to the most expensive place in town…The diamond district on 5th Ave. (notice the lamp lights)
Kelli poses with me for the lame tourist picture.
Radio City, in New York City.
I know what time it is in Times Square!!!
I guess someone gets paid to drink water all day……are bathroom breaks included?
Some standard architecture in NYC.
All this walking has left us hungry, so we headed over to Zen Palate for some food.
The next morning, and while Kelli gets her beauty sleep…
Uncle Ted and Brian head out to the Jets game.
When Kelli made it down, only Aunt Ellen was left in the house.
Kelli and I headed for the Ferry to take us over, but the ferry hasn’t allow cars since 9/11.
We had to drive the more scenic route.
Arriving at Flushing Meadows, we had time to kill so…..
We went to the Queens Museum of Art.
Inside was a huge model of the NYC area.
When the lights went dark, only this was left lit.
The model was left over from the 1964-65 World’s Fair.
Kelli and I sat down to have a picnic, when a young New Yorker decided to leave his mark.
Always stop and smell the flowers.
See the bee?
Yellow is one of my favorite colors.
With nothing left to do, we headed into Arthur Ashe Stadium for a day of tennis.
I arrived just in time to get a picture of the production crew getting some promo shots of the championship cup.
The junior boys finals.
Who will it be?
It won’t be an American this year, that’s for sure.
Any Mets fans out there?
Inside the stadium, these are our seats for this year.
As a bonus, we got to see the woman’s doubles final (Kuznetsova won the singles).
I think they’re a little too pampered.
The losers….
And with a stance like that, a winner!!!
Lleyton Hewitt and Roger Federer take the court.
The first half went really badly for Hewitt…
And while he fought back….
And tried to keep things close….
Well that’s all from NYC, this is Habicht and Habicht saying, see ya next time.
