My Mother was kind enough to provide our ground transportation to the airport.
Kelli excitedly awaits going to see her grandmother.
On the ride from the airport to her house, we picked up a hitchhiker.
The dangers of letting women drive.
Ah, the moment they’ve been waiting for.
Kelli headed right for the freezer and began to tease me.
That night, we went to dinner at Phillippi Creek Restaurant.
While the beer and food were good…..
We were sure to exercise caution.
On the way home we stopped off at the Shrine Temple for….
Some karaoke!!!!!
The next day Kelli and I packed our bags and headed for the beach.
I went snorkeling…
As you can see.
The hurricane had really made the water cloudy…
But I was able to find this crab…
See him?
This shell (the same size as the crab) was home to….
A small hermit crab.
There were plenty of young palometas swimming in close to shore.
Look, another spotting of the Kelli fish!!!
But she quickly retreated back to her native habitat.
After getting our fun at the beach, it was time for some drinking.
And after our fill of daiquiris, we checked out the area.
The local businesses were getting ready for the Hurricane.
Kelli paints her grandmother’s nails later that evening.
BTW, as I mentioned a few pics back, Hurricane Frances was coming.
We ended up being south of the eye…
But we still had lots of wind and rain.
Kelli was set with an ample supply of crossword puzzles.
I made dinner that night, tuna steak.
The next morning, and it was off to the beach again, this time I’m looking at sand dollars.
What is the exchange ratio?
A panoramic from the water.
A sand dollar from the bottom.
The shell, but no crab.
Back to the daiquiri deck for some more drinks.
The sky was beginning to look ominous.
So we left Siesta Key and headed for home.
Not having enough time in the sun, Kelli decided to go pool side for a while.
With the temp just right….
I headed into the pool for some fun.
The water was much easier to take pictures in the pool…
But I was really having to work to find something fun for a picture subject.
Kelli, doing her Nirvana impersonation.
But she was quick to go back to the sun.
After sun bathing, Kelli and her grandmother made their rounds as a maid service.
Actually it’s a bed that her grandmother sold.
I forogt to take pictures at dinner, so here is one of Kelli before we went out.
Saturday, and the hurricane has finally arrived with full strength.
We went out for a ride to check out the scene.
Keep in mind, that’s the Gulf of Mexico, not the ocean.
So it was back to the daiquiri deck for some more drinks.
We then went to a pizza joint and met Shane and Meredith (S&M). They’re locals enjoying a beer and escaping cabin fever.
Our last night, and we went out for drinks with Kelli’s friend Michelle.
Before we left the next morning, we drove around Sarasota to see the sights.
But seeing everything was closed because of the storm, we packed up and headed out. Hope you enjoyed!!!!
