Kelli and I kick back a relax as we begin a weekend celebration of our third wedding anniversary.
Arriving at Tarara, the winery where we would spend the weekend.
Kelli getting ready for dinner.
A picture at dinner.
Dinner at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg Virgina was great!!!
The next day, it was time for winery hopping, using the GPS so we didn’t get lost of course.
We did nine wineries, yes, nine.
Number one for the day, not too bad.
Kelli eagerly awaiting the first glass.
Sometimes those automated route planners don’t always pick the most well maintained roads.
Number two for the day.
The music made me feel like drinking beer instead of wine.
We brought bread and cheese to hold us over during our wine drinking adventures.
Mmmmmmm, smoked gouda.
Number three, and we liked it so much we bought 2 bottles here.
The Maryland state flower (Black-eyed Susan) in Virgina.
The hills are alive, with the sounds of drinking.
Never missing a good Saturday morning yard sale, Kelli stops to take look.
The box was $2, but the books were free.
Winery #4.
The wines here sucked so badly, the only thing we got was this picture (yes, and the one of the sign).
This sucked even worse, so we only have the picture of the sign.
#6, and a good story…..
On our way to the tasting room…..
We passed by this sign. Please note the last line.
We bought four bottles of wine here (yes their wine is good), and sat down to enjoy with some new friends.
The two dogs were looking for some fun……
So I threw the stick for them…..
Moments later I learned that “nip” means “bite so badly that you get a canine tooth on both sides of your leg.”
With some pain and bleeding for the next 3 days, I was able to drink some wine to erase the memory.
After finishing our food and wine, it was time for winery #7.
Unlike the last winery, this dog was very friendly.
Later that night, Kelli and I got crabs (yes that was a sad attempt at humor).
After getting crabs (bad joke gone worse) we headed back to Tarara for an evening jazz fest.
Last day, and I figured I’d get some pictures of the room.
Kelli was sure to make use of the bathtub.
The bedroom (like duh).
The living area.
Before we left, we went for a cruise around the grounds and found the owner “Whitey” doing some fishing.
We decided to let them do their thing, and hopped back into our golf cart to continue our tour.
The lake on the property.
These dogs were over by the grapes. These dogs, unlike others, were very friendly.
Kelli calls the dogs over.
She has a way with animals.
These are cabernet sauvignon grapes, two weeks away from picking….
Although Kelli thought some were ready for picking now!!!
Looking down through the rows of grapes.
Blackberries, not grapes, but they were just as good to eat.
Kelli tries to play with Shadow, Whitey’s dog…..
But he figured he’d just go jump in a lake.
I made Kelli run to catch up with the golf cart.
The winery is right on the Potomac river, so we went down to have a look.
Butterfly, in motion.
Butterfly, at rest.
Looking across the river to Maryland.
It was time to go about our way, so we took the cart back….
And left Tarara….
Only to go to winery #8 and #9 (you thought I was lying didn’t you).
Yeah, there’s a good way to cast your vote.
Reflecting on the past weekend….
While Kelli yells at the other drivers.
We headed into historic Leesburg to stroll around before our anniversary night dinner.
Find Kelli (and Scott).
We had just realized we were now past the three year mark.
Kelli points to the date on a calendar, but the flash washed it out.
Just like last year, we went to Tuscarora Mill.
Isn’t she breathtakingly beautiful?
Just waiting….
For Dessert!!!
It was a great weekend, with lots of wine and fun….
And just for your viewing pleasure, the closing shot is a picture of the bigger of the two teeth marks after about 36 hours.
