“Hey dude, what are you doing today?” “I dunno, what are you doing today?”
Always leave the note so you don’t get in trouble.
Mathew didn’t exactly know where we were going, so we took the scenic route to get there.
Extreme sports amateur photographer, Scott Habicht.
The place we are going is behind the Baltimore strip club “Fantasies”.
The area is an old dump that has been closed.
The locals call it Bloody Ponds because when you’re done playing there, the dried mud looks like blood.
There were mostly bikes riding around due to the entrance being partially blocked.
Mathew makes it through without incident.
These guys were the ones who told us the name and what the place was…
Like everyone we ran into that day, they were friendly and helpful.
This is the main field you see when entering. Remember it, because you’ll see it later from a different view.
Even with all the rain, there weren’t too many puddles…
My guess is because they had already been splashed out of existance.
There seemed to be enough to keep Rob and Mathew happy for the moment.
But bigger things were on the horizon.
A feature of my camera I’ve never used before. It takes 16 quick pictures in the same pixel area of one regular photo.
I did the same thing for Rob, but he went a little faster and threw mud all over me.
This is the 6th frame. You can see why I had to turn and take cover.
Mathew leading the way….
“No dude, I was following you!!”
You never know what you’re going to find at the end of these trails.
Sometimes a small ditch…..
And sometimes a Driver whining that his jeep might not be able to make it through the small ditch.
There is no doubt that Mathew will go out of his way for even the smallest puddle.
Now, I told Mathew that he could make it over and around this hump…
But he didn’t take the turn sharp enough and fast enough…
And look where it got him.
It’s a good thing I brought this along.
Mathew hooks up the rope….
While Rob pulls his chain.
It was right about here that Rob said, “you didn’t even try low 4 wheel drive!!”
Based on what just happened, Rob and I decided to hide Mathew’s Jeep in shame.
While we were waiting, another quad came by.
This guy was funny, he was staying out of the mud because, “I just washed it.” Clearly he needs to rethink the order in which he does things.
Makes you want to buy a jeep, doesn’t it?
Excuse me I have another call on the mud line.
Rob, as most of you know him, always over the top.
Keep in mind, this was a dump, so just think of the nice clean mud we’re playing in.
You take the low road….
And I’ll take the high road.
We ran into some more cycles….
When they realized I was trying to take pictures, the started showing off.
Of course it didn’t always work out.
I caught him one more time before moving on.
That is a scar in Mathew’s front left rotor. More on that later.
Rob admires the view.
Coming to the top of the biggest hill….
For a stop to check out that grinding noise coming from, you guessed it, the front left rotor.
Turns out he had mud, rocks, and whatever else is at a dump, wedged in between the wheel and the rotor.
After cleaning it off, he was good to go!!!
BTW, here is the main field from a higher view.
Now while he was doing this, I went and took a panoramic picture for you of the Curtis Bay/Key Bridge area.
The panoramic.
With Mathew now worried about the tire, it was time to leave.
The “Puddle” (more like a lake) in the distance was calling to us.
But like these other fun goers, we decided to just pass it by and cut our losses.
Nothing like fresh mud on a Jeep.
Hey, it’s great fun for the whole family!!!
Time to make the Jeeps road worthy.
I’m sure the owner of the car wash loves people like us.
Keep in mind, that is grade A dump dirt.
Rob and I stayed clear so as not to get caught in the wash.
Well, with 20 seconds to go, that’s all I have to show, except for…..
This yummy looking wife I came home to!!!!
